These cute characters hide a sad story. It’s a gypsy tale called  The coughing toad. It tells the story of a ugly big toad who is actually a cursed prince. As always, the youngest girl of the king knows that he is not only a toad and accepts to marry him. Then she discovers his secret : sometimes the prince leaves his toad skin because he wants to win the contest orgazined by the king. So she burns the toad skin. When the prince comes back he feels weak because he had to wear this skin during 100 days - the curse, remember… - and it was the 99th day. Of course the princess didn’t know that… So the toad/prince dies and so does the heartbreak princess.
